Nutritional Approach
“Let food be thy medicine medicine be they food"
-Hippocrates
Simply put, nutrition means nourishment. But the word nu-tri-tion also contains the word "tri". That is why at anna-z-nutrition our approach to nutrition is a 3 prong approach of body-mind-spirit.
It does not follow any pyramid food guides, it does not subscribe to diets, it never counts calories, carbohydrates or anything else! It is about nutrients, real food and balance.
The first mission is to teach those seeking wholeness to experience and taste the goodness of healthy eating. Whether the goal is be more energetic, lose weight, address a health condition or just needing a lifestyle change. the nutritional approach is based on nutrient dense, whole and natural foods. Since health is a whole-being event, the mind (soul) and spirit become important partners in overall wellness.
As part of your journey with us, we will do some detective work to assess the underlying causes contributing to the health complaints; not simply treating the symptoms. A action plan is then developed that will work with helping you bring your whole being back into balance.
Not all people can eat the same food and feel the same way. This plan follows a simple food philosophy and builds an individual plan to be as unique as you are.
Food Philosophy:
My food philosophy encompasses the approach that no one food regime is right for all. Nourishment should be in harmony with beliefs, digestive capabilities, restoration and maintenance of health; it needs to resonate with the whole being, mind, body and spirit. My philosophy strives for balance and moderation. It embraces the virtuous elements of old world recipes to the modern tenets of vegetarianism, paleo, raw and veganism to collaborate meals that not only tantalize the palate but bring pleasure, variety and health."
The food philosophy involves respecting the integrity of how the food was created, from the original Creator to the co-creators and producers. Food, that when taken from the field to the table can be enjoyed and savoured in good conscience that it was raised, grown and prepared using traditional methods. It involves shopping farm-fresh local, local grocer, organic, in season and out of your own garden, when possible.
It answers yes to:
• Is it pasture raised or wild?
• Fresh and unprocessed?
• Free of any chemicals or genetic tinkering (GMO free)?
• Is it health supportive?
• Grown organically, ethical and is sustainable?
